resurrecting fofooli
i posted my resume, as well as sent out job applications, online. the job title i'm after is web developer, or more specifically PHP/MySQL Web Developer. hey, its something i can do with my eyes closed so might as well use that as the launching pad of a career. besides, looks like there is a demand for it right now with all these new dotcom businesses coming up. but its a really good entry-point cause companies aren't looking for people with so and so numbers of experience in the IT industry under their belt. they're just looking for people with the know-how and the passion to work. that's why it seems like they're really targetting the position for fresh graduates... all eager and ready to work.
being a Java Developer would be nice as well but Java is way too broad for me. i mean i'm ok with the general stuff like making a calculator or something maybe but if you talk to me about beans then i'll fix you with a glazed stare. besides, to get in to a job with that title, they require you to have a gazillion amount of experience! and now just with Java and JSP, but with VB and ASP as well. i mean, make up your mind! Sun or Microsoft?! geez...
as i said, i've been applying online. for those of you who'd like to try doing so, i'd recommend setting up an account with Carrer Builder. don't get discouraged with the lengthy process of setting up your resume cause once you've done so, it'll be just click, click, click, click everywhere to submit an application. really, it's worth setting up you're resume there. i'd also recommend checking out the job posting at Craigslist, you'd be surprised that a lot of companies actually post there! probably because they think only the most serious job seeker would take the time to poke around craigslist's very very minimalistically mundane website. you can also post your resume there! the great thing about craigslist is that unlike careerbuilder, which basically limits to what your resume contains to your work experiences and educational background, it allows you to post your resume whichever way you want! so you can tell your whole life's story there and see if any employer would be willing to give you a chance. lastly, if you're into digging through lists upon lists of job postings, try Simply Hired. its like the google of all job posts, able to search through a wide array of job posting websites. by the way, if you wish to work in the US(assuming you're in the Philippines or some other country), try your luck with these websites. job posts would usually indicate anyway if the position is available to US residents only so if it does not say so, then go ahead! why not, right?

anyway, some employers require you to email your portfolios or links to some of your works. in my case, i was asked if i could provide a link for them to a website i made. since, my system wasn't deployed by upm, and the virtual classroom(which isn't really mine, hehe, just a small part of it), was taken down, and the job portal(which again isn't wholly mine, haha!) lost deployment rights to another job portal made by another group(though i have to admit that their's is really better), i basically had no link to provide! so, i got around to searching for free webhosters with php and mysql AND without ads. found one! great service, though their servers are kinda slow and they didn't give me my own domain. but it'll work, after all, it's free! so, i got to upload my thesis there! yay! fofooli is now online!
visit fofooli here. have fun, poke around, do whatever. but please, don't "pigmatize" it. i'm using it to look for a job.
