maybe life is a month too long

its been almost a month since my last post.

that was deliberate.

i wanted to see how much things, how different today is, how much life has progressed: after a month's time. of course its not a good idea to do it within the interval where christmas and new year and my birthday is all in, but what the heck, if you leave those out, its still surprising, what you're left with.

the biggest surprise which eclipsed everything else in that one month period happened one early january 5 friday morning. my grandma called was calling out my bro from her bathroom. i heard her call but when i heard my bro getting up from bed, i went back to a semi-sleeping state. when i finally got up, a fire truck had just pulled over our driveway. my grandma suffered a blood clot in her brain. it wasnt a stroke, although another 20 minutes of not being attended to would have turned that clot into a stroke. she was rushed to the mayo clinic hospital(i had to include the name, i thank them for their splendid service... and don't you guys think that the name is a bit contradictory? clinic then hospital? lol. kinda cute though) and stayed there for the weekend. so she's fine now but she lost her confidence in herself. she doesn't want to be left alone, which is understandable of course. we're not complaining but i'd like her to be less afraid and a little more confident of herself. in due time sure she'll gain it back. she's a resilient one, and i'm proud of her.

over the holidays, me and my bro found ourselves reigniting one of our oldest passions in our relatively young life. remote control cars. we both gave each other one last christmas. both tamiya's. and no, tamiya isn't that small thing which you put in circuits that can't turn on its own but rather have this spinner-like things at the edges to make it turn. please, tamiya wasn't originally known for that. in simple terms, tamiya is like the honda of rc's. they make great rc's and they're known for it. well, we got each other the lowest type of rc they offer, the qd or quick drives. they're like toys really, they're not customizable and you can't do much with them aside from making the dog go nuts. oh and rc's are not toys. to say so is like saying the mona lisa is a photograph. so my bro wasn't satisfied with the performance of the qd's so he got another one, a real rc. the one he got is from traxxas, the american counterpart of tamiya. its beautiful. it tops out at 35mph(about 55kmh). its fast, and it loves rolling over my rc. T_T mind you at that speed, its definitely not for kids. in fact, some rc's could go as fast as 70mph(or about 110kmh). so yeah, you could theoretically take it to the free way with you under its own power and control it from your car.

last new year officially marked my 2nd year since i awoke the wonderful world of healthy living. it was on new year's two years ago when i started my very first diet... the no rice diet. i did it for about a month and a half, and after that, its been a whatever goes home-concocted diet scheme. frap diet anyone? lol. i'll probably write about it sometime. so yeah, happy second anniversary to me!

as for "me". i've been and i still am in an emotional roller coaster. "i" and "emotional" shouldn't be used in the same sentence. heh. right now, i "centered" my life on my work. cause thats all i have here, apart from family. so when a day in work doesn't go too well, i'm a wreck, if all goes well, i'm happy. i guess this is the hardest part in moving, how do you re-establish your life?

yes, 2006 was a particularly tough year for everyone. it was a year of change, massive changes at that, and a year of looking for hope. 2007 is gonna be a year of more changes, changes for hope. and its gonna be good.

My prayers for your grandmother. Heaven knows we've had way too many episodes of that sort when Lola was still at our house..
On that note, through an odd coincidence, my Lola's Parkinson's doctor, a nice guy named Evidente, spends most of the year at the Mayo Clinic, left St. Luke's fpr the position. yet still finds time to come home to let his old patients consult a few times a year.

cool, it figures, mayo clinic is like THE stroke/trauma center around here, so they do have a lot of doctors for the brain. hmmm, i'll ask around.

much thanks for your prayers. she's doing better now, but they plan on bringing her back to manila to let her recover more cause seriously, doctors back there are alot better, there just isn't a proper healthcare/insurance system.
